Wormy Chestnut is an extinct lumber dating back 100 of years. This popular wood is considered rare and highly desirable today, and the warmth and beauty of American Chestnut is unmatched by other species due to the natural holes created by insects long ago. It is most beautiful in a cleaned-up form which shows the beauty of the wood grain and the unmistakable holes. This beautiful material is already milled and ready to use. it has been re-sawn from larger boards to make this a truly DIY product. We have also kiln dried the wood to make it stable and ready to use and is insect free. All planks are 3 in. W and most boards are up to 48 in. L and each box contains a minimum of 10 sq. ft. The uniformity of width reduces waste while cutting for your project. Some uses include wall covering, furniture, sliding barn doors, headboards, ceiling cladding, serving trays, toy boxes and so much more. Wormy Chestnut can be sealed with a water-based sealant to bring out the rich color of the wood grain. You can also use an oil-based sealant to bring out a richer, darker tone to your finished project.
